Team Members and New Runners: 10-12th graders
Dear Cross Country Team Members:
The Boys and Girls Cross Country staff welcomes you to Godinez Fundamental High School. This letter is to inform you of important details, dates and information. You have had an opportunity to have two weeks of transition (active rest) from your busy past season. I want you to observe the enclosed dates. The week starts on Sunday and terminates on Saturday.
Minimum Total Minutes
May 17-18: Easy running 15-21 minutes
May 19-20: rest
May 21-22: Easy running 15-21 minutes
May 23-24: rest
May 25: Easy running 15-21 minutes
May 26-27: rest
In the last three days in May, I want you to start out with your prescribed volume which is 50% of the volume anticipated during your full volume weeks.
May 28-31: 30-37 minutes
June 1-2: 30-37 minutes
Progress as indicated until you are at full volume starting June 10.
June 3-9: 45-51 minutes
June 10-16: 60 minutes
June 17: Active Rest 20-30 minutes of easy running
June 18-19: Rest
June 20-30: 60 minutes
July 1-24: 60 minutes
What does resting mean? A resting period need never have more than two rest days in a row without a workout. Active Rest: Active rest allow for a maximum of 20 to 30 minutes of easy running. Rest: rest days mean no training. That means no running, weight lifting, or body stressing.
IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER
1. Summer school: Begins at Godinez, Tuesday, June 19, 2012.
2. First practice meeting: at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2012.
3. Summer school ends: August 1, 2012.
4. Registration, verification of classes and athletic fee due: Monday - Friday,
August 6-10, 2012.
5. Training Camp at Idyllwild: Sunday - Friday, August 12 thru August 17, 2012.
6. First Day of Instruction for students on Wednesday, August 22, 2012
